WE ARE NOW OFFERING 3D MAMMOGRAPHY AS A NEW IN-OFFICE SERVICE FOR BREAST CANCER SCREENING FOR WOMEN
GREENBRIER PHYSICIANS announces that they are on the forefront of breast care by now offering 3D Digital Breast Screening Mammography. Digital Tomosynthesis will now be offered within the office as an additional tool in their extensive well-woman and breast care program.
“We are excited to add 3D Digital Breast Tomosynthesis suite to our women’s breast cancer screening program. By partnering with one of the nation’s premier mammography technology companies GREENBRIER PHYSICIANS is able to provide digital screening mammography in our office. Now a patient can get their screen the same day as their well-woman exam without having to make a separate appointment or go to another location or facility. Additionally, if a patient comes in for any other issue and they are in need of a mammogram we’re able to do it right then and there. We’re providing enhanced patient care, a life-saving service in a comfortable and convenient environment.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. It’s the second leading cause of cancer deaths. According to the American Cancer Society, women age 40 and over should have a mammogram every year. Early detection of breast cancer is key. Annual screening mammography can reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer among women ages 40 to 74, especially those over the age of 50. Early detection not only saves lives but results in the discovery of smaller tumors, resulting in less aggressive surgery, radiation therapy or chemotherapy.
“Digital mammography is the gold standard for the detection of breast cancer and being able to test our patients within our office means a lot. We know how life crazy life can get with family activities, work, and social commitments, and just everyday things. Now our patients don’t have to make extra appointments or carve out more time for a screening appointment. “Our mammography suite is designed and built specifically for screening, convenience, and patient comfort. We’ve always felt every woman should have access to the very best technology that will detect breast cancer at its earliest stage, and we can give that to them with our in-office mammography services.”
The unique challenges of breast cancer screening led to important technology innovations that result high-resolution images. These high-definition images make it easier to detect breast cancer in women and when they are detected before they spread to other parts of the body, the likelihood of cure is increased.
It’s recommended that women get regular mammograms as suggested by their doctor, and if they have been informed that they have dense breast tissue, they should talk to their doctor or radiologist about their specific risk and additional screening tests that might be appropriate.
